Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to help prevent, reduce, or mitigate the potential consequences of a domestic terrorist attack, natural catastrophe, or other emergency using all-hazards scenarios to determine site-specific consequences and their impacts to a jurisdiction.
The course will assist local emergency responders and stakeholders in identifying critical infrastructure sectors that may be at risk in their jurisdiction and aid them in the development of mitigation strategies that can lessen the jurisdictional impacts.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

-Explain the concepts of risk.
-Complete a threat/hazard assessment for a community critical asset.
-Develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to work as a member of an assessment team to identify vulnerabilities of community-critical infrastructure.
-Complete a consequence assessment for a given asset within the community.
-Apply managing risk concepts for community assets.
-Discuss mitigation concepts.
-Perform a risk assessment of a given community asset.

Prerequisites: You must be a US Citizen to take this course. If you are not, please let us know by email for further instruction at OEM.TRAINING@DHSES.NY.GOV

All participants must have a FEMA Student Identification (FEMA SID) number. Students can search for their existing/create a new FEMA SID at: https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/

Any and all other prerequisite requirements will be managed by the consortium provider. If any additional prerequisites are required as part of the enrollment process the consortium partner will contact you directly prior to the course.

Cost: There is no fee for the course. Food, lodging & transportation costs are the responsibility of the participant.

Completion:  Participants who actively participate and attend all course contact hours will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the course.
