Course Description
This course teaches the critical components of risk management and provides participants with the basic fundamentals of determining and mitigating the risk associated with their critical infrastructure. Through a combination of lecture, facilitated discussion, and group activities, participants will learn how threats, vulnerabilities, and consequences determine risk. Participants are given an opportunity to practice the fundamentals of conducting vulnerability assessments by conducting on-site assessments of select local facilities. Additionally, they will identify potential mitigation measures associated with their findings and work together to develop and present a risk management report. Individuals completing this course in combination with MGT-310, MGT-414, MGT-452 and AWR-213 will be awarded an Infrastructure Protection Certificate through TEEX.

Course Topics
This course includes an overview of the risk management process, threat and hazard identification, asset valuation, vulnerabilities, risk assessment, mitigation mission area, and on-site risk assessment.

Audience
This course is open to a broad array of public safety stakeholders, including law enforcement, the fire service, emergency management, public health, and emergency medical services (EMS). The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) reserves the right to determine eligibility for this course.

Lodging
Lodging will be provided for eligible public sector personnel.  
You are eligible for lodging if your residence and official workstation are more than 50 miles from the SPTC and you are public sector personnel.  Lodging is not available for federal employees or private industry participants.  If you are eligible, you will be sent an email with lodging instructions prior to the start of the course. You must be enrolled in the course and have received lodging approval from the SPTC before arriving at the Center, or your lodging will not be covered, and you will not be allowed in the class.
