Course Description
This course is designed to help public safety officials successfully prepare to take their FAA Part 107 exam in order to support their agency’s Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) program.  This course will focus on content covered in the Part 107 exam (outlined below) and will emphasize content areas that are less intuitive and can be difficult to understand without instructional support.  Best practices, tips, and lessons learned in terms of preparation for the 107 exam will be covered.  Candidates for this course should plan on taking their 107 Exam within 4-6 weeks of the course.  Please note that completion of this course does not guarantee that a participant will successfully pass their 107 exam.  

Course Topics
This course will cover the knowledge areas that are on the Part 107 exam, including UAS regulations, airspace classification, weather issues and concerns,  UAS weight and loading, emergency procedures, crew resource management, radio communications management, determining the performance of small UAS, physiological effects of drugs and alcohol, decision-making and judgement, airport operations, maintenance, and pre-flight inspection procedures.  

Target Audience
This course is intended for Public Safety officials who are preparing for their FAA Part 107 Exam in order to participate in their agency’s UAS program.  Interested candidates should commit to taking their 107 Exam within 4-6 weeks of taking this course.  This will help DHSES and DEC to better determine the efficacy of this course.

Lodging
Lodging will be provided for eligible public sector personnel.  
You are eligible for lodging if your residence and official workstation are more than 50 miles from the SPTC and you are public sector personnel.  Lodging is not available for federal employees or private industry participants.  If you are eligible, you will be sent an email with lodging instructions prior to the start of the course. You must be enrolled in the course and have received lodging approval from the SPTC before arriving at the Center, or your lodging will not be covered, and you will not be allowed in the class.
