Full Description: Course Description
The UAS Operator Course is a combined ground and flight school designed to prepare participants to safely and effectively manage and conduct UAS operations. The instructional team will work with students to connect statewide and national policies and best practices to  a variety of mission areas. The course includes classroom, skill, and scenario-based activities.

Interested candidates for this course must have their FAA Part 107 certification at the point of registration; please refer to the "Audience" section of this announcement for further details.
During this course students will first operate the Syma X5C trainer platform and then advance to the Autel Evo ll. All equipment required to successfully complete the course will be provided.

Course Topics
This course includes legal and ethical UAS operations, flight authorizations, crew resource management, pre-flight decision making, risk analysis, mission planning, record keeping, photography and video, practical flight exercises and scenario-based activities.

Audience
Participants must be first responders or other public safety officials who participation is sponsored by their  agency and whose focus is on gaining training and experience to perform their duties at this agency. Interested candidates for this course must have their FAA Part 107 certification at the point of registration for this course. This course is limited to 12 students. The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) reserves the right to determine eligibility for this course.

The SPTC will provide you with the Autel Evo ll for the flight lanes.

This training opportunity is provided by a team of instructors from DHSES, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the New York State Police (NYSP), and NUAIR.

Reporting Instructions: Days 1-3: Registration (7:30am—8:00am), Course (8:00am—5:00pm)
Registration: All student registrations will be reviewed by the SPTC with approvals sent to students NO LATER THAN 2 weeks prior to the start of the class.  Registration does not guarantee a seat in the class.  If you are accepted into this course, you will receive a confirmation email from the Center.

No Show Policy
Failure to attend a class you have registered for can result in restriction on future course attendance and agency notification. If you have not received a confirmation or denial two weeks prior to the course date, please contact DHSES, SPTC at (315) 768-5689 or SPTC.INFO@dhses.ny.gov

Lodging
Lodging will be provided the night before Day 1, Day 1 and Day 2,  for eligible public sector personnel.
You are eligible for lodging if your residence and official workstation are more than 50 miles from the SPTC and you are public sector personnel.  Lodging is not available for federal employees or private industry participants.  If you are eligible, you will be sent an email with lodging instructions prior to the start of the course. You must be enrolled in the course and have received lodging approval from the SPTC before arriving at the Center, or your lodging will not be covered, and you will not be allowed in the class.
