Brief Description: This course provides students with the knowledge and tools necessary to respond UAS activity.

Full Description: Description:
This course provides first responders and emergency managers with the knowledge and tools necessary to detect, identify, track, assess, respond and report UAS activity. Participants are         presented with information on the current UAS terrorist and criminal threat, technology, and analog and electronic detection techniques. Participants are guided through demonstrations and exercises on the varying UAS types, their capabilities, and simulated threats involving Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

Course Objectives:
-Recognize Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) uses and components.
-Recognize the threat posed by the criminal and terrorist use of commercially available Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) technology.
-Recall Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) regulations and the counter-UAS tactics associated with first responder operations.
-Discuss C-UAS Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) used throughout the included case study.
-Recall audio and visual detection techniques utilized when detecting potentially hazardous Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) activity.
-Recall tracking techniques and assessment methodology utilized when encountering Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)  activity.
-Recall response and reporting options when encountering suspicious or unsafe Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) activity.

Prerequisites:
You must be a US Citizen to take this course. If you are not, please let us know by email for further instruction at OEM.TRAINING@DHSES.NY.GOV

Cost:
There is no fee for the course. Food, lodging & transportation costs are the responsibility of the participant.

Completion:
Participants who actively participate and attend all course contact hours will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the course.
