Brief Description: FFS: Self Rescue (01-05-0092)

Full Description: This program is designed for firefighter self-rescue based on job performance requirements included in NFPA 1407: Standard for Training Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews, 2020 Edition. Course content will enable firefighters to recognize the types of events encountered on the fire ground that contribute to firefighter disorientation and/or entrapment, to have knowledge of what is necessary to ensure their safety and that of their partners or crew members, and perform self-rescue techniques when disoriented, separated, or when needing to exit a structure in an emergency. This course requires students to perform several practical evolutions with self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and includes vertical self-rescue skills utilized for egress from an elevation.

Resources Required: Equipment Required will be fully compliant Firefighter Structural Turnout Ensemble, and SCBA with at least 1 spare cylinder.

Lodging will be provided for public sector personnel.

You are eligible for lodging if your residence and official work station are more than 50 miles from the SPTC and you are public sector personnel.

Lodging is not available for federal employees or private industry participants.

You must be enrolled in the course and have received lodging confirmation from the SPTC before arriving at the Center, or your lodging will not be covered and you will not be allowed in the class.

Reporting Instructions: Registration and Check-In (7:30am-8:00am), Course (8:00am-5:00pm)

Signup Details: All student registrations will be reviewed by the Office of Fire Prevention and Control with enrollment approvals sent to students NO LATER THAN 2 weeks prior to the start of the class.

Registration does not guarantee a seat in the class. If you are accepted into this course, you will receive a confirmation email from the Center.
