Description:
This course assists to provide emergency managers, first responders, and community members across all sectors with a basic understanding of the latest knowledge in winter weather science, forecasting, warning, and best practices in preparedness. The course enhances the ability of participants to identify and describe the hazards associated with winter weather and to better prepare for and mitigate the impacts of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and dangerously low temperatures.

- Typical households who need to prepare and respond to winter weather hazards.

Prerequisite:
You must be a US Citizen to take this course. If you are not a U.S. citizen, please e-mail oem.training@dhses.ny.gov for further instructions.

The student needs to establish a FEMA Student Identification Number (SID). This can be accomplished by registering at FEMA’s website.

Cost:
There is no fee for the course. Food, lodging, and transportation costs are the responsibility of the participant.

Completion:  
Participants who actively participate attend all course contact hours will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the course.
