Full Description
This program meets all the job performance requirements found in Chapter 6 of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. Through a combination of reading,
lecture, and group discussion, topics 11 REV 2/01/21 relevant to the successful management
and operation of a fire and emergency services agency are addressed.

Students are required to gather, analyze, and utilize data from their agency or department to complete the assignments that are due throughout the course. Course topics include leadership, personal and professional development, communications, legal issues, human resources,
intergovernmental relations, budget and finance issues, strategic planning, working in the community, managing the code enforcement process, and emergency management and response planning.

The Fire Officer III course includes the Fire Officer III National Certification
examination as the course final exam. Those candidates seeking Fire Officer III National Certification are required to complete the Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) National
Certification application and submit the completed application to the OFPC Standards unit.
