Full Description
This course covers current performance requirements to be qualified as a fire investigator.  In addition, students gain comprehensive knowledge and skills required to scientifically investigate fires.  Through classroom instruction, practical skills activities, preparation of written materials, and presentation of findings, successful participants will meet the core competencies to conduct a thorough fire investigation from initial scene assessment through cause determination and, if practical, court room proceedings.

Designed for: Restricted to members of fire, law enforcement, and prosecutorial agencies with the statutory authority to investigate fires.

Prerequisites: Signed Fire/Arson Investigation Training Program Agency Endorsement Affidavit

• Current editions of NFPA 921, NFPA 1033, and Jones and Bartlett Fire Investigator text.
• Appropriate personal protective equipment for fire scene examination.

Reporting Instructions
Check-In Times: Resident students may check in after 5pm on the evening preceding an 8am class start - dinner is not served that night without prior arrangement. For classes starting at 1pm, check in time is after 11am the same day - no lunch is served on check-in day.
