Brief Description: This course introduces participants to preparedness efforts to safeguard critical infrastructure.

Full Description: Description:
This course will introduce participants to the key terms, policy, guidance, and preparedness efforts required to safeguard the Nation's critical infrastructure. Participants will review applicable policy and guidance, discuss the risk management framework, describe Federal critical infrastructure security and resilience and information sharing programs, and relate critical infrastructure programs to individual actions.
Primary focus will be placed on local preparedness efforts as they relate to the national approach to critical infrastructure security and resilience. An understanding of the national approach to critical infrastructure enables critical infrastructure stakeholders to address local planning within a common framework. Informed planning is consistent with and expands on nationally accepted emergency management standards as the basis for planning across the mission areas of prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery.

Course Objectives:
-Identify the sectors with assets within their jurisdiction, the Sector Specific Agency(ies) for those
  sectors and the impact of the National Preparedness Report (NPR) on sector assets.
-Summarize the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) risk management framework and
  the knowledge of varying sector and asset-specific risk management tools and resources.
-Summarize the information included in a Sector Risk Snapshot.
-Determine the specific high-level threats and hazards to local Critical Facilities (CF) assets.
-Identify the dependencies and interdependencies of the CF sector.
-Identify sector assets, threats and hazards of significant concern and concern, and dependencies
  and interdependencies of sector assets.

Prerequisites:
-You must be a US Citizen to take this course. If you are not please let us know by email for further instruction at OEM.TRAINING@DHSES.NY.GOV
-All participants must have a FEMA Student Identification (FEMA SID) number. Students can search for their existing/create a new FEMA SID at: https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/.

Any and all other prerequisite requirements will be managed by the consortium provider. If any additional prerequisites are required as part of the enrollment process the consortium partner will contact you directly prior to the course.

-Critical Infrastructure owners, operators, and managers
-Federal, State, local,  regional , tribal and territorial government officials and managers
-Sector-Specific Agency Managers, Other organizations and managers with critical infrastructure                responsibilities

Cost:
There is no fee for the course. Food, lodging & transportation costs are the responsibility of the participant.

Completion:
Participants, who actively participate, attend all course contact hours and pass a written test will receive a Certificate of Completion for the course.

Resources Required: Participants enrolled in an in-person, classroom-based course delivery will need access to a laptop or mobile device/tablet during the class session to complete course testing and evaluations electronically.
