Full Description
This program meets all the job performance requirements found in Chapter 6 of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. Through a combination of reading,
lecture, and group discussion, topics relevant to the successful management
and operation of a fire and emergency services agency are addressed.

Students are required to gather, analyze, and utilize data from their agency or department to complete the assignments that are due throughout the course. Course topics include leadership, personal and professional development, communications, legal issues, human resources,
intergovernmental relations, budget and finance issues, strategic planning, working in the community, managing the code enforcement process, and emergency management and response planning.

The Fire Officer III course includes the Fire Officer III National Certification
examination as the course final exam.

Designed for: Current and aspiring Chief Officers

Course Length: 40 hours plus substantial individual research time

Check-In Times: Resident students may check in after 5pm on the evening preceding an 8am class start - dinner is not served that night without prior arrangement. For classes starting at 1pm, check in time is after 11am the same day - no lunch is served on check-in day.
