Full Description
The NYS Rope Rescue Technician course provides information and techniques to perform more complex vertical rope rescues.  This course builds upon the NYS Rope Rescue Operations course with more advanced individual and team-based skills and high angle rescue techniques.

Designed to improve rescuer decision making when confronted with more complex rescue situations, topics covered include ascending, anchoring, Rescuer and team-based pickoffs, knot passing, twin tensioned rope systems, advanced litter rigging, horizontal movement, and the use of Artificial High Directionals.  

Coupled with the NYS Rope Rescue Operations course, the Technician Level course covers all the Job Performance Requirements listed in NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Technician (2021ed).

This program includes continuous skills evaluations, and a final written exam.

Lodging will be provided for public sector personnel. You are eligible for lodging if your residence and official work station are more than 50 miles from the SPTC and you are public sector personnel. Lodging is not available for federal employees or private industry participants. You must be enrolled in the course and have received lodging confirmation from the SPTC before arriving at the Center, or your lodging will not be covered and you will not be allowed in the class
