Course Information

The NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) is partnering with the
Institute for Disaster Mental Health at SUNY New Paltz on a training workshop entitled
Managing Staff Stress & Promoting Workforce Resilience. This half day (4 hour) training is
intended for public sector personnel, including first responders. After this training, participants will be able to identify and understand operational and traumatic stress.  Participants will also learn about coping mechanisms for themselves and others to promote personal and workforce resilience.


Target Audience

This training is intended for public sector personnel, including first responders. This type of training is critical due to the increasing frequency, scope, and scale of disasters and other crisis situations. Individual and organizational stress, staff burnout, and PTSD are real challenges given the intense operational tempo public sector agencies must contend with.

Course Provider

This training opportunity is provided by the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) in conjunction with the SUNY New Paltz Institute for Disaster Mental Health.
