Full Description: Course Description:

MGT 384, Preparing for Cyber Attacks and Incidents, is designed to prepare organizations and communities for the next cyber attack or incident. During this 16- hour course, participants will analyze cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and initial and cascading impacts of cyber attacks and incidents, evaluate the process for developing a cyber preparedness program, examine the importance and challenges of cyber related information sharing and discover low to no cost resources to help build cyber resilience. This course utilizes a team approach to capitalize on the synergy of traditional emergency response organizations, SLTT governments, military, and public and private operators of critical infrastructure.

Course Objectives:
- Differentiate between various cyber threats.
- Discover the need for planning for cyber incidents.
- Recommend a plan of action for developing or revising a cyber preparedness program.
- Analyze and share information as it relates to cyber incidents to enhance information sharing, collaboration, and situational awareness.
- Identify resources for improving cyber resilience.

Prerequisites:

Recommended: AWR-136 Essentials of Community Cybersecurity

You must be a US Citizen to take this course. If you are not, please let us know by email for further instruction at OEM.TRAINING@DHSES.NY.GOV

All participants must have a FEMA Student Identification (FEMA SID) number. Students can search for their existing/create a new FEMA SID at: https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/

Any and all other prerequisite requirements will be managed by the consortium provider. If any additional prerequisites are required as part of the enrollment process the consortium partner will contact you directly prior to the course.

Cost: There is no fee for the course. Food, lodging & transportation costs are the responsibility of the participant.

Completion: Participants who actively participate and attend all course contact hours will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the course.
