Full Description
This is an intermediate-level course designed to describe the core principles and processes of HSEEP, its standardized methodology, available resources, and practical skill development, which will assist in developing an HSEEP consistent exercise program. The objectives of the course are to understand the role of HSEEP in National Preparedness, and how HSEEP exercise principles and methodology support efforts across the whole community to improve our national capacity to build, sustain, and deliver core capabilities.

Course Objective:
At completion of this course, students will increase awareness of the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program Doctrine, clarify roles and responsibilities, and improve teamwork and coordination.
Target Audience: Emergency management personnel, public safety personnel, and personnel with primary exercise development roles and responsibilities and their supervisors; including those involved in planning, program management, design and development, conduct, evaluation, and improvement planning of HSEEP consistent exercises. This includes the following roles at all levels of local, state, tribal, or the Federal government:
-Senior and Elected Officials
-Exercise Program Managers
-Exercise Director
-Exercise Planning Team Members
-Exercise Controllers and Facilitators
-Exercise Evaluators

Prerequisites: If a participant is taking this course as a part of the Academy, then they should take L0101: Foundations of Emergency Management first, but this is not required. If a participant is taking this course on its own for its science information and not in the fulfillment of the Academy requirements, participants are required to have completed IS-0120.C: An Introduction to Exercises. It is also recommended that participants take IS-0130: Exercise Evaluation and Improvement Planning.

Cost: There is no fee for the course. Food, lodging, & transportation costs are responsibilities of the participant.

Course Completion Requirements: It is mandatory that the participant complete all 16 hours of this course to receive full credit. Anything less will result in the participant’s need to re-register for another course and start from the beginning."
