Description:
This course provides participants with the basic knowledge, considerations, skills, and abilities needed to prepare for and initiate a family assistance center. This course is designed to create a framework for local authorities to develop family assistance centers based upon local capabilities and the needs of the incident.

This course allows the opportunity for family assistance center stakeholders to get an understanding of the different operational, logistical, and emotional demands that should be considered before activating a family assistance center.  

Course Objectives:  
Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
-Describe the characteristics of a family assistance center
-Identify the roles and responsibilities of key players in a family assistance center
-Describe the steps to initiate, operate, and demobilize a family assistance center
-Identify key resources within their communities that they can utilize in family assistance centers

Target Audience:
Participants should include those persons that will be assigned to work in or facilitate the activation of a family assistance center.

Prerequisites:
You must be a US Citizen to take this course. If you are not please let us know by email for further instruction at

Cost:
There is no fee for the course. Food, Lodging, and Transportation costs are the responsibility of the participant.

Completion:
Participants who actively participate and attend all course contact hours will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the course.
