Full Description
Meeting the job performance requirements found in Chapter 5 of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, the Fire Officer II course builds on the skills learned in Fire Officer I.

Additionally, students begin to examine the functions of a “Managing Fire Officer.” Topics include government administration, human resources management, media relations, budgeting and purchasing, origin and cause investigations, conducting accident investigations, analyzing agency data, post-incident analysis, and the development of an incident action plan for a multi-unit response.

The Fire Officer II course includes the Fire Officer II National Certification examination as the course final exam. Those candidates seeking Fire Officer II National Certification are required to complete the Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) National Certification application and submit the completed application to the OFPC Standards unit.

Designed for: Fire officers who lead and manage firefighters and other fire officers

Prerequisite: Fire Officer I course completion or Fire Officer I National Certification (Pro Board, IFSAC or DOD)
