Brief Description: This course will prepare participants to describe the process of climate adaptation planning.

Full Description: Description
This course will prepare participants to describe the process of climate adaptation planning for the impacts of weather hazards and changing climate patterns. Participants are guided through three modules related to the science of weather hazards and climate patterns, risk assessment paradigms, and adaptation planning for climate change. This course is highly interactive and includes activities related to hazard identification, basic critical infrastructure and key resource risk analysis, as well as cli-mate mitigation and adaptation planning. This awareness-level course will cover the basic science of meteorology and climatology, with a particular emphasis on understanding climate projects on a broad operational level. Common risk assessment paradigms, such as FEMA’s Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, are presented with a particular focus placed on climate-related threats and risks to infrastructure and assets. Finally, the course will lead participants through basic principles and case studies of climate adaptation planning.

Completion:
Participants, who actively participate, attend all course contact hours and pass a written test will receive a Certificate of Completion for the course.

IS.100; IS.200; IS.700; IS.800; IS.2001 Threat and Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (THIRA) or equivalent.
