Full Description
As the final course in the Fire Officer Series, Fire Officer IV meets all the Job Performance Requirements of Chapter 7 in NFPA 1021-Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. Topics specific to the course include human resource demographics, member/management relations, education and in-service training programs, member assistance programs, organizational incentive programs, media relations, capital improvement projects, succession planning, hazard and risk analysis, and disaster planning, to include hostile events.

The foundation of the Fire Officer IV course is the candidate development of a written organizational Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan consists of all the requirements as outlined in the Standards of Response Coverage by the Commission on Fire Accreditation as well as specific NFPA 1021 Chapter 7 Job Performance Requirements. The resulting product will be an organizational document in which the candidate can update throughout their career as their organization changes.

The course includes the Fire Officer IV National Certification written exam as the course final exam. Additionally, the candidate Comprehensive Plan and a candidate PowerPoint presentation constitute the Fire Officer IV National Certification skills components.
